http://www.verlanbrock.com - I entered this amazing world on November 14, 1960 to Hobert and Matilda Brock to be the last of their thirteen children. We lived in the small Kentucky coal mining town of Harlan, which was nestled between the Pine Mountains. Life was not easy, but my father worked in the mines providing for his family. We may not have always had the best of everything, but we had a home built out of love for God and family. I developed an early love for music and God through the loving guidance of my mom. My early childhood memories of singing were in church. I was raised with the Pentecostal Holiness Faith being the foundation of our home. We were taught at an early age that anything is possible with God by your side. As a young boy I was inspired by the gospel music of Brother Marion Brock. He was one of the best country gospel singers throughout the mountains of Kentucky. He passed away in 1977, leaving me with a strong desire to follow in his footsteps. I have been blessed to have had many inspirational people in my life, many of which are no longer with us. But their spirits will always play a major role in my life. I would personally like to thank Rev. A.D. Saylor, Rev. Johnny Saylor, Rev. Kale Saylor, Sister Rena Blevins, Sister Becky Jane Brock, Sister Judy Brock, Sister Anna Lee Saylor, Sister Lizie Saylor, and Sister Thelma Saylor. My journey through life has taken me down many roads; many of which turned out to be dead ends. But I have never given up on my dreams of someday singing and spreading the word of God through my songs. Even though there has been many demons throughout my life, my never ending belief and trust in the Lord has brought me to where I am today. Today I live near Nashville with my wife, Paula and my two precious daughters, Abreanna and Verlanda. They were God’s gift to save me. Their love and support for me is always present. My girls are my biggest fans, and my greatest accomplishment.
