- Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - The past twelve months have done no favors to Jessica Simpson's career.
Now, with the bright lights of her film career fading, the pop star is going back to where it all began for her and getting back into the studio.
Jessica, who became a major house hold name thanks to the reality TV show "Newlyweds" rather than her music, has confirmed that she has started work on a country album.
The Texas-bred singer, who established herself in the entertainment world with pop music, is getting in touch with her roots to reignite her career.
The star told Billboard magazine, "I am a country girl. I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to wait until the time was right."
The starlet, who is rebuilding her career after suffering from multiple failures at the box office, is also going to get more involved in her music.
She said, "Writing is a release for me. It's a way for me to tell my story. That's not to say I wouldn't record a song that I didn't write. It's just that it has been a while since I have opened the book."
