SMOKEY ROBINSON DEDICATES NEW SONG
“Mama You’re My Daddy Too” TO SINGLE MOTHERS
Digital Single Available May 3rd Just In Time For Mother’s Day On
SRR Records
Los Angeles, CA (April 28, 2011) --- Music icon Smokey Robinson
has written and recorded a new song that tenderly praises the
strength and honors the struggles of single mothers on the eve of
Mother’s Day.
“Mama You’re
My Daddy Too” is a beautiful and powerful tribute to the single
parent raising their children witho ut a
father, a tremendous and often overlooked feat Robinson marks by
singing, “I have never known a man that is stronger than
you….” The digital single will be released on May 3rd on
SRR (Saguaro Road Rhythm) Records.
“This is a song that I hope will impact people and give the
single moms out there some encouragement,” says Robinson.
“Many are struggling to raise more than one child by
themselves with no participation from the dad, and so I hope
these words will be inspirational to them. I hope it can
also inspire or enlighten their children or adults who have
already been raised by single moms.”
Robinson was compelled to write the song after watching a
documentary on the plight of the single mother, which left a
tremendous impact on him. “I thought about how many single
moms there are in the world and many of them have homes where
they are raising them completely on their own.”
“Mama You’re My Daddy Too” will be available via MP3 at all major
outlets including iTunes and Amazon.com. Robinson released
his last album, Time Flies When You’re Having Fun, and a special
collection, Now & Then (in conjunction with Cracker Barrel
Restaurants), on Saguaro Road Records last year.
