MY GRANDFATHER - 'A good song of a personal admiration'.

MY GRANDFATHER - 'A good song
of a personal admiration'.
Chorus(a):My
grandfather
Was a northern slave
And he did not let that
Keep him down in life
My grandfather
Became a southern brave
Working hard with what
He had to become a chief in life
First Verse:If laughter was a goldmine
His will be my shrine
If doing good in life is of worth
He did his best on the earth
*After all these years
When I tend to look back
His honesty brings me cheers
The destiny of a jack
From chains to being free
He did not give up in life
The farmlands do agree
To his touch of fife
(Repeat chorus...(a)...............)
(Instrumental interlude.............)
Chorus(b):My life weather
Is turning upside down
All that is dismay
For what I want
I strive further
For the worthy crown
Of all in my way
Going by the will of grant
Second Verse:If a decade brings a miss out
His passing will be on my file
In my wandering all about
My goal is of his mile
*He said chances come in many ways
And an opportunity is what becomes of due
For every place offers a state of grace
To be what you never knew was so true
(Repeat chorus...(b)...............)
(Repeat chorus...(a)...............)
Footnote:I wrote this inspirational song of admiration about my maternal grandfather, who inspite of being captured during warfare and sold as a slave, refused to look down on himself, and turned unfortunate situations in his life into opportunities of greatness. He was from the northern region and ended up in the eastern south.I'm so inspired by his examplary life of courage, wit and wisdom, and hope my passing on his life story of success and victory over failure and defeat, will inspire all people from various walks of life to be victorious in life. - CBJ.
