Frankie Ballard Tapped To Open For Darius Rucker This Fall

By My Country Space

Tour Kicks Off On October 6 in Glens Falls, NY

Nashville, TN  (September 1, 2011) – For Warner Bros. Records’ breakout guitar slinger Frankie Ballard, he is the most at home when out on the road. And that is exactly where he will be this fall as he was tapped by Darius Rucker to open his upcoming U.S. Tour, also featuring Rodney Atkins. The country music heartthrob will bring his signature guitar licks and high-energy performance to the 7-city run in October, performing crowd favorites from his self-titled debut, available everywhere now. Produced by Michael Knox, Frankie Ballard features hit singles “Tell Me You Get Lonely” and “A Buncha Girls.” Ballard will join the tour on October 6 in Glens Falls, NY and will continue through the show in Pikeville, KY on October 23.

I've been a huge fan of Darius since the Hootie days! The Dolphins make me cry..." laughs Ballard. "Darius is packin' some big places that I've never played yet, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity. I'm totally excited to get out there and I may even ask him for an autograph!"

With a stacked resume of opening tour slots to date, including Uncle Kracker, Bob Seger and Taylor Swift, music critics and fans alike are buzzing over Ballard. As Mario Tarradell of The Dallas Morning Newsputs it, “Ballard’s sound is revved-up country rock with arena swagger and down-home appeal … Ballard is one to watch.” Jessica Philip of Country Weekly Magazine gushes, “Frankie Ballard might have joined the ranks of top Music City session players with his ace guitar skills” while Roughstock.com says, “He’s a versatile musician with a strong voice and a strong set of songs that forecasts a bright future.”

Few debut artists can compare to Ballard’s impetuous breakthrough in the music scene as country’s guitar slinging heartthrob. In just one year, Ballard has already scored a Top Five video hit with his debut single “Tell Me You Get Lonely,” toured with rock star Uncle Kracker, starred in his own GAC web series, wrote a song on Billy Currington’s new CD, issued “A Buncha Girls” as his second radio single, staged his debut at the Grand Ole Opry, was named one of the select iTunes “New Artists To Watch” and appeared on FOX & Friends. And if that wasn’t enough, Ballard opened 13 shows for Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer, Bob Seger and just finished a run opening for superstar Taylor Swift on the North American leg of the “SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR 2011.” Hailing from Battle Creek, Michigan, Ballard brings a fresh new sound with his unique blend of edgy, country rock and sheer, fleet-fingered guitar skills.
