Kicks-Off
The 9th Annual IAMA (International Acoustic Music
Awards) kicks off. IAMA promotes excellence in
Acoustic Music Performance and Artistry. Acoustic
artists in various genres can gain exciting radio and
web exposure through this competition. Participating
sponsors include New Music Weekly, Loggins Promotion,
AirplayAccess.com, NoisyPlanet, SongU, Acoustic Cafe
Radio Show, Broadjam, Sonicbids and XM Satellite
Radio.
IAMA is open to all independent artists and labels. Unlike other music industry competitions, IAMA focuses on developing new markets for Acoustic artists, labels and with or without CD releases. Past years' winners include MaddyRodriguez(Canada), David Francey (Canada), Liz Longley, The Refugees (USA), Kate Lush (Australia), Wayne Southards (USA), Larry Pattis (USA), Omega (Uganda), El McMeen, etc. Last year’s winner went to Canadian folk singer-songwriter Maddy Rodriguez who won the overall grand prize as well as the Best Folk Artist. Maddy hit the charts with her winning song "All The Wasted Time".
Win prizes in 8 different categories: Best Male
Artist, Best Female Artist, Best Group/Duo,
Folk/Americana/Roots, AAA/Alternative, Instrumental,
Open and Country/Bluegrass. There will also be an
Overall Grand Prize winner awarded to the top winner
worth over US$11,000, which includes radio promotion
to over 250 radio stations in US and Canada. Winning
songs will be heard on radio! Winners and runner-ups
will be featured on our CD compilation. Also, we
feature up to 10 different artists get featured and
promoted on IAMA website every month, which provides
a review, ratings, CD information and more.
Judging is based on excellence in music performance,
songwriting/composition and originality. Winners are
selected by a panel of established artists and
industry professionals. Winners and finalists of the
Awards will be featured in the IAMA website and
e-newsletters, read by music press, talent buyers,
promoters and other industry insiders. All songs
submitted must be submitted must be original and
submitted online or via CD, the artist may also
perform original material not yet released and
written by other songwriters or composers. Cover
songs are permitted. Deadline to enter is November

Nashville Spices Things Up in September To
Host The 2nd Annual Music City Southern Hot Wing
Festival and Contest
Music City, Nashville will feel the heat once again
this Fall as the 2nd Annual Music City
Southern Hot Wing Festival
(MCSHWF) fills Downtown Nashville with
the tantalizing, alluring aroma of hot wings on the
barbie on Saturday, September 29,
2012 from11:00AM until 7:00PM.
The charity event will be held for the second
consecutive year at the Walk of Fame
Park located just in front of the Country Music
Hall of Fame (and behind the Hilton Hotel). With
teams from near and far vying to take home the $1,000
Grand Prize and “Music City’s Best Wings-2012”
bragging rights, there will be no shortage of
mouth-watering wings for patrons to sample throughout
the day. For a small donation, hot wing connoisseurs
can taste-test entries from each team to fuel a fiery
hunger while demonstrating support for a good cause;
all proceeds from the MCSHWF will benefit the Ronald
McDonald Charities House of Nashville. Over 20 teams
are expected to participate, preparing more than 200
lbs. of wings for the event.
The fee to participate in the contest is $200 per
team (the entry deadline is September 15th, 2012).
For those who venture to attend the MCSHWF as an
aficionado rather than chef, the outing will feature
a variety of entertainment and attractions to enjoy,
including the gut-busting, all-you-can-eatHot
Wing Eating Contest, a silent auction,
activities for the entire family (including a Kids
Corner) and two stages featuring live music from some
of Music City’s most extraordinary artists and
performers. The line-up to date showcases

and Saturday, September 8, 2012.
This event, now in its 4th year, is held to benefit Patriot’s Path Foundation, Inc. The Foundation’s mission is “to assist and empower Veterans with the necessary skills to make a successful reintegration into the community after they have completed their military career.” [Patriot’s Path is a 501 (c)(3) non- profit public charity, incorporated in West Virginia.] To date, more than 92% of all monies donated to the Foundation have gone directly to support our Veteran programs. Our mutual purpose is to lend a hand to our brothers and sisters of service and put our Veterans on a path to a better life.
The special-invitation intimate dinner and show
will officiate the charity event Friday evening
(September 7) at the elegant Purple Iris in
Martinsburg, West Virginia with celebrity
appearances, entertainment and a live
auction.
The 100-clay target, team and individual
celebrity competition will be held at the
Arlington / Fairfax Chapter of the Izaak Walton
League in Centreville, Virginia (just a few
miles from the NRA Headquarters and Washington,
DC) on Saturday morning (September 8). The
teams compete for the Patriot’s Trophy
(currently held by the IWLA team from Leetown
Gun Club in Leetown, West Virginia).
Patriot’s Path was formed to assist Veterans
from past conflicts and the returning Heroes of
Iraq and Afghanistan. We provide residential
housing for homeless Veterans and currently
operate eight facilities. In 2010, the
foundation provided 7,117 nights of housing and
more than 10,000 nights of housing in 2011.
Patriot’s Path also provides life skills
mentoring, educational assistance, money
management training, employment assistance and
