About Kate Curtis:
Kate Curtis doesn't just sing country... she is country. Born and raised in Stafford, VA, the very heart of Country, Southern Rock, Gospel, and Bluegrass music, Kate was influenced by her Mom and Dad's love for music at an early age. She began singing solo in church at age 5 and continued as a member of the choir through her teens. Her first real musical influence was a Southern Gospel Group, The Sonrise Quartet. They were a group filled with unique harmonies and were based firmly in the Bluegrass Tradition. Before moving to Nashville, Kate played with a Bluegrass Band, The Rappahannock Ramblers, singing both lead and harmony vocals as well as playing rhythm guitar. With a style all her own, Kate credits the influence of such country greats as Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Alison Krauss and Emmy Lou Harris, along with a healthy dose of Rock's Bonnie Raitt, Neil Young and The Beatles. A gifted vocalist, Kate is accomplished as well on guitar, mandolin and harmonica. She is currently in the studio working on her first album, and has already finished recording two songs with TMC Studios. Kate performs throughout the week in many Writer's Rounds around Music Row and is always working towards perfecting "her craft".

Well, I took my ole flat top
To a corner spot on Broadway
Just to play & sing
Some of them ole Hank Jr. Tunes
Oh… I wasn’t quite sure what kind
Of reaction that would bring’
Until this old man comes by, an
Says, Boy I’ll give y’all a dollar
To quit your playin’
playin’?
Hell No! Son……. your singin’……
Oh…Man…I wish that that old man wasn’t so hard on me
Cause all I really need is a ticket to the Opry………………..
MERCY !!!!
“Hey Y’all
I wish I was way down yonder
Where the Catfish bite & the Crawfish crawl
Radio turned up loud to a Tim McGraw
But, oh… No….. I’m stuck up here still livin’ with my Ma & Pa
Still playin’ this ole flat top guitar
Hopin’ someday it will take me far
Cause God knows
We all could use another Star…”

Thank you for the add!! Lot of people wondered what happen to me after all these years. But I'm still kicking trying to make a come back. But finding music has changed and found myself writing a lot with Nashville writer's today. This year has started out with a bang!! I only hope I can keep up with everything. "My Heart Tells Me So" is now being played all over Nashville and getting great reviews. A tune that I just wrote last month so at least it starting right for the new year. I hope to put up some of me tunes here soon. Got to get the release from my co-writer's first. Your new friend........rick hall
